Introduction to Big Data and why it matters

Big data basically means a large volume of structured, unstructured, and semi-structured which is impossible to process using traditional methods.

Big Data

Today more and more businesses are using different ways to gain quality insights in order to serve their customer better, reduce costs, and so on.

The processing and analysis require “massively parallel software running on tens, hundreds, or even thousands of servers”.

It varies depending on the capabilities of those analyzing it and their tools.

Furthermore, expanding capabilities make big data a moving target, for some organizations.

For others, it may take tens or hundreds of terabytes before data size becomes a significant consideration.

Business intelligence uses applied mathematics tools with high information density to measure things, detect trends, etc.

Regressions, non-linear,  causal effects from large sets of data with low information density to reveal relationships and dependencies, or to perform predictions of outcomes and behaviors.
